If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find this page, maybe you can get some help from ALUG. 
In the first instance, it is usually best to post questions direct to the ALUG mailing lists, as this will bring it to the attention of our members more quickly and any answers can be discussed easily.
This page serves well though to record a definitive answer, if it is of use to others and also as a place to host screenshots, if they are required. Please include the date when a question has answered, so a reader has some idea when the answer was formulated.
Also note than even Microsoft know How to ask a question!
19/02/2007: How would I go about setting up a database for storing recipes?
Probably best to use a specific application already written for this purpose, such as the GTK app Gourmet Recipe Manager. As well as having a user-friendly front-end for storing, retrieving and printing your recipes, it has many additional features including the ability to automatically generate shopping lists, calculate nutritional information for your recipes and also import and export from various standard formats.
