Meeting 2001.4 : Hive Bar, UEA Norwich
Sunday 17 June 2001
Plan for the meeting
Roughly, as follows: The meeting is scheduled for 2pm-6pm. It is in the larger Hive bar and we're hoping for it to be as well attended as last time. There will be presentations and discussions of security topics, wireless networking and a practical demo of printer configuration.
How to get there
For directions, please see the venue information page.
People at the meeting
Most ALUG members, hopefully. The kit list below is nowhere near complete. Please email me to add yourself to the list.
If you will also be coming to this meeting, please try to say so on the mailing list, so we can be prepared for the numbers!
Equipment
Equipment is brought at your own risk. We strongly suggest that you tag or label your kit. No known thefts have occurred at our meetings, but there is ample scope for going home with the wrong cables, etc. Be sure to bring all appropriate power cables etc. An extra extension lead will also be a good idea.
So far, for this meeting, we know of:
- Earl Brannigan
- Security demonstration: bringing nessus, nmap and the like and showing how to use them. I could also demonstrate a buffer overflow and that sort of thing...if anyone's interested...
- David Freeman
- 8 port 10/100 Ethernet switch, cat5, possibly another hub and some machines. Wireless networking equipment.
- Linuxsure
- Some equipment has been sent to us on loan, including a set-top box.
- Chris Walker
- A machine for others to try and figure out what's wrong with sound and networking on it.
- MJ Ray
- Athlon 1.2 parallel computing node (hopefully). Some Debian CDs (hopefully). Masq box. Many Mandrake CDs. Venue co-ordinator.
Discussion
